About the Author

Sandra Wesa is a medical sociologist, development consultant and founder exploring the relationship between society, health, culture and development.

With academic training in sociology and medical sociology and more than a decade of experience in community development, Sandra brings together sociological insight and practical experience to examine the systems shaping everyday life.

Her work explores African histories and knowledge systems, health and healthcare, cultural identity, education, institutions and power. She is particularly interested in the questions that often go unanswered: Why do certain social patterns persist? Whose knowledge gets recognised? How do institutions shape our lived realities? And what would it take to change the systems that no longer serve us?

Through The Social Architect, Sandra connects everyday experiences to the wider social structures behind them, challenging conventional narratives and making complex social questions accessible, relevant and open to debate. Her work is grounded in a simple conviction: to understand a society, we must look beyond individual choices and examine the systems, histories and power relations that shape them.
